SCROLL DOWN

Fast & Loose is Back

Fast & Loose

Theatre for the chronically impatient

For its tenth year in Belfast, we're starting a new chapter by taking Fast & Loose to Belfast & beyond.

In this 24-hour fiesta, Accidental Theatre creates & premieres four new plays in just one day. At 9 p.m. on Friday, four writers are given a selection of random inspirations & just twelve hours to write a short play each. At 9 a.m. on Saturday, four directors, twelve performers and six stage crew arrive & leap into creating the plays, which premiere that very night at 9 p.m. — a bold & breathless experiment in playmaking.

This year it's extra special, as we’re celebrating F&L's tenth incarnation. Along with the usual (four new plays), we'll also present three special ones from the back catalogue — wild fruits of this decade-long project. WAIT! There's more: All this happens in Accidental's new shared HQ, at 12-13 Shaftesbury Square. AND, in collaboration with Big Telly's Creative Shops programme, we'll be taking Fast & Loose on tour — creating 24-hour performances with groups around the country!

It's even more unpredictable, unique & uplifting than usual, whilst always remaining a showcase of some of the finest theatre artists working in Northern Ireland. Embrace the unknown.

Hello Shaftesbury Square

Accidental has moved into a new space in Shaftesbury Square, along with a few exciting partners.

Accidental has moved into a new building in Shaftesbury Square, with the help & generosity of the owner of fonacab. We'll have more details soon about the building and what we're up to but this is a new venture with new friends involved. So far we're sharing the building with the talented Amadan Theatre and we hope to share it with more artists soon.

If you're interested in joining us, just send us an email with details of who you are and what you do.

For now, we still have a few  Opportunities to check out.

NEW SERVICES

We're expanding the help and advice we can give fellow artists with a new Services programme. Have a look at our list of initial services, that we've aimed at a range of artists and tried to make as flexible and useful as possible.

PLAYGROUND

A new venture by Accidental and Down Arts Centre, giving writers space & time to explore play-making. Through alternative writing bootcamps, scratches and a playwriting programme, we’re making a place for theatrical experimentation & creative risk-taking. The project has been generously supported by Newry, Mourne & Down District Council. Click here for more.

FLIGHT/RISK

FLIGHT/RISK is a new project, combining ideas we've been conjuring to support theatre-makers and other artists in Belfast and Northern Ireland. For four months we'll be opening up our office and rehearsal spaces and turning it into a hub for FLIGHT/RISK artists to use for FREE while they develop new pieces of theatre. Click here for more.

NOVEMBER SHOWS

November was the last month Accidental will be housed in our 4th Floor office/bijou venue. To celebrate the end of our two year experiment we're excited to announce a whole month of events and performances. From all-nighters to scratches. Check out the line-up and come join us as we celebrate the work of a host of talented artists and the end of our time on Wellington Street.
