The One with Patrick J O’Reilly

Patrick is currently artistic director of Tinderbox Theatre Company in Belfast. Since the pandemic, Patrick has worked with Culture Reset and ArtHaus Berlin to redefine and implement an arts ecology that encourages creative practice, artistic process and equality to be the central motor of his artistic vision.

His favourite words are play and freedom. (and coffee).

The One with Paula McFetridge

This weeks guest is the Artistic Director of Kabosh and NI Tourism Board ‘Hero', Paula McFetridge.

Paula McFetridge has been Artistic Director of Kabosh since 2006, a Belfast-based theatre company committed to challenging the idea of what theatre is, who it is for and where it is staged. www.kabosh.net

She is a fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar Session 532 'Peacebuilding Through the Arts', was made Belfast Ambassador in recognition of utilising the arts to tackle difficult issues and won the Northern Ireland Tourism Board ‘Hero’ award for her work in cultural tourism.


The One with Nicky Harley

This year Nicky launched ArtistsNI, a website dedicated to the collation and promotion of freelancers working in the arts, in response to the people forgotten by government support schemes implemented since March. She firmly believes in wellbeing through the arts, and since March has set up both The Virtual Gallery and Social Distance Discos, which at their core are invitations to connect, celebrate, and take on challenges.

As an actor she works extensively through Ireland and the UK, and has transferred her skills to online live performances this year. She has previously worked with Big Telly, Creation Theatre, and many more.


The One with John D Ruddy

This week we welcome actor, writer, illustrator, teacher, historian and YouTube sensation John D Ruddy to Talk at AT.

John is an actor, writer, YouTuber and theatre-maker from Letterkenny, Ireland. He is the creator of Manny Man, the mad little character who tries to make history as fun and accessible as possible! His YouTube series Manny Man Does History explores all sorts of world history, wars, revolutions and of course some Irish History too! He has been creating History videos since 2013 and has since garnered over 200K subscribers and over 30 million views.

When John is not treading the boards or illustrating, he can usually be found in schools talking to students all about history!


The One with Gerard McCabe

Talk at AT is back again this week, as we welcome Gerard McCabe to the virtual studio. With our usual team of Louise Conaghan & Tommy Brunt!

Gerard has been a professional actor for 22 years. He has worked in a wide variety of styles with almost all of Northern Irelands theatre companies and leading directors.

He was artistic director and founder of regularly funded theatre company Pintsized Productions for ten years (2008-2018) and now runs Sodabread Theatre, a community interest company.

Ryan is a designer for performance, specialising in set and costume, with credits that span theatre, opera, cabaret and dance.

He is an Associate Designer for Creation Theatre and an Associate Lecturer in Theatre Design at the University of Chichester.

Sinéad is a Stage Manager, based in Lurgan, who has been working professionally in the theatre industry for almost 4 years, working with companies such as Big Telly Theatre Company, Creation Theatre, GBL, Tinderbox and Kaleidoscope NI. Most recently her work has transferred online as she has been stage managing Zoom Shows with Big Telly Theatre Company and Creation Theatre. She is currently working on a production of Macbeth.

Sarah-Jane, Director of MayWe founded the events and cultural management company with her business partner in 2019. In its first 18 months MayWe has programmed community arts activities across the country, delivered a range of cultural events and most recently has been adapting its practice to continue delivering events in the face of the pandemic.

Marie studied at Derry Tech, now known as North West Regional College and then started her first media job in radio, in Donegal in the early 2000's. In 2010 she worked as a trainee on the Irish horror comedy film Grabbers before moving to Belfast to start a career in TV. From there, Marie has worked across many formats including film, documentary, entertainment and comedy, the most recent production being the BBC Northern Ireland mockumentary Soft Border Patrol.

Originally an in-person & online event, it has now gone solely online due to NI Executive delaying the opening of Theatres.

If you haven't heard of it it's a curated festival of new work in Belfast, on 16th-18th September 2020. Embracing social distancing, there will be no touching.
