Volunteer with Accidental Theatre

Accidental Theatre is more than just a venue — it’s a welcoming community space in the heart of Belfast where people come together to connect, create, and support one another.

We’re looking for friendly, community-minded volunteers to help us make our events and activities happen. From local meetings and community projects to live shows and open gatherings, our volunteers play an essential role in keeping Accidental running and open to everyone.

As a volunteer, you’ll meet new people, build confidence, develop practical skills, and help create a positive, inclusive space for others. Accidental supports people from all backgrounds, including those who are disadvantaged, part of minority groups, or otherwise vulnerable — so your contribution really makes a difference.

Whether you want to help welcome audiences, support events, or lend a hand maintaining our building, there’s a place for you in our community.

Join us and be part of something that brings people together.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in anyone who wants to help out with Accidental, we want to work with dedicated, enthusiastic people, who are interested in being part of a community, making quality arts projects and connecting with others.

In particular we need volunteers who are:

  • volunteers are required to be available for a minimum of 2–3 nights per month, particularly on weekends when events are the busiest. (This also helps maintain up-to-date training and working knowledge of the building.)

  • reliable and dependable people (Accidental and the artists depend on the reliability of the team for shows to run smoothly so only volunteer if you can follow through.)

  • and are excited to get involved in the work Accidental is developing.

“Volunteering at the Accidental Theatre has been incredible! Working with the team and artists has done nothing but boosted my confidence and motivation to work in the arts. The team are lovely and do earnestly welcome anyone to help out the theatre, and I have adored learning from everyone around me. High praises!” - Adrian

“I saw sign post volunteering opportunities on the window of Accidental building, then I thought about my recently completed Photography courses, so I reacted to give it try and signed up then here I am. It’s lovely, fun and I enjoy being part off entertaining people.” -Tensai

“Having spent time as a technical volunteer at the Accidental Theatre within the last year, I have nothing but positive things to say about my experiences. I came into the role whilst studying Music Performance at Queen’s University, and I found that my volunteering was integral to strengthening my learning by giving me an opportunity to put it into practice. The staff at the theatre made it incredibly easy to get started and were always approachable when I had questions or any issues when on the job.
I couldn’t recommend it enough to any who are interested!” - Ruadhán,
