The Bitter Fringes (17th July- 5th August)

The Bitter Fringes is a series of stand up and comedy shows by new and local comedians, testing out their stuff before they head to the Edinburgh Fringe. Or acts having a go at longer sets and full shows for the first time.

Heading to a festival like the Edinburgh Fringe can be very daunting, especially if your a new act. Some are too scared to go, some are too lazy and most simply can’t afford the flight. The Bitter Fringes was set up to give acts the opportunity to have the experience and practice of putting on a full show without the travel and price tag.

How It Works

This year Accidental is asking acts to pay a participation fee of £100, to secure a place and cover marketing, staffing and venue running costs. All acts taking part will have their own Box Office Page. This is per show not per act, if you are doing a Triple Bill show £100 will cover all three performers. You will then take 80% the box office takings minus card fees on some sales.

Each act will be given 3 hours of venue time. This will include set-up, door time and take down. This is why we recommend all shows run between 60-90 minutes. If you would like a longer running time this can be arranged depending on availability.

All shows will run in the Book Bar which has a capacity of 30. If a show sells more than 30 it can be upgraded to the Theatre space depending on availability.

If you are a musical act or intend to use projection you will require a technician to operate the systems.
