WITHIN: Body + Time

by Aisling McCormick & Aoife McGrath

Witness the transformation over time of one woman’s journey in pregnancy. Her body, her choice, yet surrendered to the needs of this stranger growing inside. Performed by Aisling McCormick and choreographed by Aisling and Aoife McGrath, this solo dance expresses loss, change and the longing to celebrate a body in flux, and this new body within.

A new piece co-produced by Accidental Theatre, Within: Body + Time is part of Accidental’s wider Rapid Response project, supporting brand new performances created to respond immediately to what's happening around us today. These shows are raw, impulsive, intriguing and aim to respond to life in the here and now.

Also featuring is WRoNGHEADED, a film by Liz Roche Company, choreographed by Liz Roche and directed by Mary Wycherley. In WRoNGHEADED, Liz Roche brings together the fearless spoken word poetry of Elaine Feeney, the exquisite work film director Mary Wycherley and electrifying performances by dancers Sarah Cerneaux and Justine Cooper. All are gathered together in this intense mix of emotions and physicality to highlight the desperation and frustration that many Irish women feel today when it comes to the choices available to them regarding their bodies.

The event also includes a live performance of ‘Murmurations’ from Belfast-based HIVE CHOIR, a choral ensemble that incorporates vocal experimentation, improvisation and innovative performance. ‘Murmurations’ is a piece inspired by travel, change and memory, inspired by murmurations of starlings over the Lagan river.
