EVERGREEN: An evening with J SHIELDS
J SHIELDS presents EVERGREEN, an evening to celebrate the launch of his debut EP. This evening will be an immersive art-pop experience telling a story of growth and resilience. J invites you to join for an intimate and expressive performance full of ethereal vocals, smooth ambiance and natural rhythms, influenced by a broad range of electronic grooves from downtempo to footwork to trance. J will be supported by Daire Heffernan, a dream-pop artist who's folk-inspired music explores love and lust; and Calm C., an ambient artist who created electronic music centred around hefty, weighty beats and the gritty sounds and textures recorded in urban spaces.
EVERGREEN: An evening with J SHIELDS
This event is the EP launch gig of J SHIELDS' debut EP, Evergreen. J SHIELDS is a vocalist, writer and art-pop producer from Belfast. Inspired by nature in his poetic writing style, J simplifies the complex parts of our existence by simply observing it in the natural world around us. With Evergreen, J gives an intimate insight into parts of his story, singing about submitting one's ego and allowing oneself to grow, feel, and love; and ultimately, thanking the young self who weathered many a storm to become the strong-rooted Evergreen that never fears the autumn. Expect ethereal, operatic vocals and nostalgic production taking inspiration from a range of electronic music such as downtempo, trance and footwork. Ideal for fans of artists like Boards of Canada, Caroline Polachek, Bronski Beat, Cocteau Twins, Bjork.
J will be supported by Daire Heffernan. Daire Heffernan is a singer-songwriter from Dublin and based in Belfast. Her music is equal parts indie-folk and dream-pop and is influenced by artists such as Adrianne Lenker, Sufjan Stevens, and Alex G. The singer has a dearth of new music to share including her most recent EP, "The Wolf Called Desire" which is inspired by folk music, exploring darker themes of love and lust.
J will also be supported by Calm C, an Irish producer whose electronic music centres around weighty rhythm, ambient textures and field recording interruptions. Also a sound artist his music is heavily influenced by interactions with the city and using space as a creative medium. Sounds like: Four tet, Just Mustard, Kelly Lee Owens, etc.
