We’re helping to host a new pop-up scratch night to help artists develop new pieces of theatre and get it in front of an audience for feedback. Do you have a new piece of theatre you are trying to develop?
Over the last few years Accidental have been working in unused offices and shops across Belfast and we’d like to make some of those spaces available for other artists to use. We’re offering artists or companies with work in development two weeks of free rehearsal space to develop a new performance idea. Then together we’ll host a performance night in a disused space in Belfast city centre to gather audience and peer feedback.
As a young company it is constantly hard to find resources, time and space to develop new work. We're helping to push the Scratch Night ethos in Belfast as it is a fantastic format to help develop new work in the city. It's worked brilliantly across the world and we think it can uniquely help Belfast. Allowing young organisations and solo artists here a platform on which to pool resources for creating new and experimental theatre.
If this sounds of interest to you or your organisation just send us an email with a brief outline on what idea you’d work on and a little about you. We want to help develop bold, exciting and fresh ideas, fostering a culture of theatrical experimentation right here in Belfast.
We'd like to hear from anyone interested before Tuesday 30th September.
UPDATE: The deadline may be past for applications but if you're interested in Scratch Night opportunities still just email us and tell us more about you and your work.
